Ultrasonic abrasive polishing of additive manufactured parts: An experimental study on the effects of process parameters on polishing performance

چکیده
The rough surface of metal parts produced by the powder-based layered Additive Manufacturing (AM) technology such as Selective Laser Melting (SLM) is an important problem that needs to be solved. This study introduces obvious improvements in quality AM means ultrasonic abrasive polishing (UAP), which uses cavitation collapse and micro-cut particles for finishing surfaces. Experiments were conducted using orthogonal experimental design method with L_9(3^4) array investigate effects power, machining time, particle size, concentration on roughness Ra material removal rate (MRR). wear slurry was also studied. IN625 nickel-based alloy specimen manufactured chosen target workpiece. results show when output power too high, both efficiency deteriorated. And not further improved just increasing time. Severe erosion occurred process created leftover pits workpiece surface, has a large influence Ra. size amount should within certain range, helpful improving performance. work useful studying influential parameters involved UAP finding out appropriate conditions.
